Apr 06,  · This book is a real help. It makes the experience of reading the books more enjoyable. I wouldn't say that Wolfe's books *need* a reference like this, but it doesn't hurt to have one, and I am glad Michael Andre-Driussi has written the Gate of Horn, Book of Silk.

This book is a boon and adds to the experience of the original texts/5(4). The gates of horn and ivory are a literary image used to distinguish true dreams (corresponding to factual occurrences) from false. The phrase originated in the Greek language, in which the word for "horn" is similar to that for "fulfill" and the word for "ivory" is similar to that for "deceive".
